THEY'RRRRRE OFF!   Guelph, Ontario, Feb. 1, 7:30 a.m.  Getting in the car  to head off Chicago, to meet some of Ken's friends from Korea.  Chicago is also the beginning of Route 66.
x

St. Louis, Missouri's, iconic landmark, The Gateway Arch.
It's 630 feet tall and 630 feet wide. The structure dominates the west side of the Mississippi River in St. Louis, just downstream from the confluence
of the Missouri River and the Mississippi River.

x

MAN OF STEEL: OJOA Director, Slalom Chairman, etc. etc. Ross upholds more than OJOA.
Such Superman heroics underpin all he does.

x

The arch, the great Mississippi.
Truly ... the Gateway to The West.

On the Colorado plateau:  A crisp, clear morning
in Holbrook, Arizona.

is taking a page from the Cadillac Ranch.

Grand Canyon:  The Great Dragon.

Ken, a canyon ... and cold feet. The day started at -27 C
and warmed to a pleasant +6 C.

c

No need for a supercharged Jaguar engine here....
.... one mule-power is all you need, pardner....
c

Ross walkin' off into the sunset.
Go West young man, Go West!!
c

Ross, Ken, Grand Canyon, Memory.

More memories: Sitting in the barber's chair in Seligman, Arizona.  If you've seem the recently released animation film "Cars", then you've been to Seligman.

the bay (home of Alcatraz) and the Pacific Ocean.

THE BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS -- in February.

All good things must come to an end.....almost home.
x

Two weeks after setting off:  9,927 kilometres later.
Memories that have made a father's lifetime richer.
Memories that have made a son's life richer.

( A short while later, Ken was back in Korea. )
